Mathematics project 2

In this project, we are given a task to work on our own survey questions and the title is based on our own opinion. So, we have form a group of 4 person which is me, Cheong Siew Leong, Lee Yuan June and Kelvin Chiew to work on this project. Our title for the survey is Laptop survey, which is to understand what is the peoples need for their laptop and what they want for their laptop. So, we have prepared 150 survey form with 20 questions in each of the form, and we started our survey in the campus. After we have done with our survey, we calculate the total number of the answer from the survey form and start on our report. In the report, we have used Statistics to shows the answer of the peoples chosen. Also, we calculated the number of answer with Mode, Median and Mean to shows a more accurate value. In conclusion, I learned how to do an effective survey in my future and I have learned how to analyse and tabulate the result of our survey. Lastly, I have improve my skill on using Statistics in my future.

Mathematics project 1

In this project, we are given a question paper and to solve the problem in a group of 3~5 member. We have used different calculation, laws and theories to solve the question and we need to produce a model of the object which is shown in the question paper. For the calculation, we have to calculate the total surface area and the volume of the object, so, we used the formula for the surface area of cylinder which is the area of curved surface+ area of 2 circular surface (2πrh +2π(r^2)). Also, for the volume of the cylinder, we used the formula for the volume of cylinder which is the base area x height (2πh(r^2). Then, we used the theories, Pythagoras Theorem to determine the circumference of the object with the formula of c=/a^2+b^2. Next, we used theories from trigonometry to determine the angle of sector which is cosX=Adjacent X/ Hypotenuse X, we are also used tried other solution such as Law of Cosine to determine the angle of sector which is a^2=2r^2-2r^2cosX. Lastly, we are also used the Sines Rule/Law of Sines to solve the problems sinY/y=sinX/x or y/sinY=x/sinX. The pictures below shows our calculations for the project and the model we made. In conclusion, I have learned how to apply the theories of mathematics on some object and I have improve my mathematics calculation through this project. Also, I have trained myself to avoid the mistakes from mathematics calculation.
